Things Made & Done
Below are a few example of some of what I’ve made over the years. These pieces are not listed in any particular order. Some of these practices are ongoing and some I no longer (thus far…) engage in.
Made Inside - Pink Noise Project
Made Inside (April 2022) is a reflection of listening to and feeling what you feel, taking time with it/yourself, building a relationship with what is found, and honoring what is felt by allowing space for it to exist.
Altar Nooks & Holding Spaces
Paper-mache sculptures, each is hand-painted and one of a kind. These pieces include plant stands and sculptures that each include space(s) for what feels special, what we want to honor, center, focus on or hold. Each is made of up-cycled materials (excluding the paint).
Watercolors (& ink sometimes too)
Original watercolor works on paper. Some include inked drawing and/or brushwork, paper-cuts.
Workshops
• Fabric Workshop & Museum, Convening: Visualizing Care - This workshop explored experiences of discomfort and care within ourselves, with others, and the greater collective through art making. This included multiple art processes including plexi-glass portrait tracings, collage, and collaborative screenprinting.
• Fabric Workshop & Museum, (Virtual Discussion) Mending A Ruin: Textiles and Healing - Conversation about textile experimentation and conservation through a lens of healing. Presented in conjunction with Samara Golden’s 2019-2020 residency.
• Fabric Workshop & Museum, Mending and Meaning Making Workshop - This workshop centered the use of art and creativity as a process for grief and loss, exploring how making can be a form of emotional mending. Participants shared objects from their own homes that were in need of mending - real and metaphorical. A team of mending experts supported the consideration of ways in which each item could be mended or if mending was even wanted at this time. Presented in conjunction with Samara Golden: Upstairs at Steve’s exhibition.
• Make Night - Make Night is a series of free and open access community gatherings supporting creative practice and connection. Hosted in different locations across Philly, folks are encouraged to spend time “making” in the company of others. Materials can be brought, shared, donated (for future Make Nights), and will be provided for anyone who needs/wants. * Make Night, traditionally held indoors, has been on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic *
Digital Works
Button-making
A few example of buttons made by folks in Philly. Free button-making was offered in public spaces around Philly as part of my graduate thesis project.
Arts Advocacy - PCCY, Picasso Project Grant Awardee with All Heart Art Cart
Was awarded two consecutive Picasso Project grants through PCCY while co-running All Heart Art Cart (a mobile pushcart supporting local emerging artists in Philly). Created two different art projects that included providing art education that had previously been cut from the budget. Students made two art pieces for each project - one to keep, one to sell. Student work was sold (through Art Cart) across Philadelphia and raised over $3500. All proceeds were donated to the school’s art education programming and ongoing development.
